“Carla and Francesca and all the staff make you feel at home. They are always ready to give you suggestions to visit the area in the best possible way and to solve any problem that may arise. The environment is comfortable and safe with an excellent quality ratio- price! Excellent breakfasts and dinners that the guesthouse offers on request. What can I say, all very well. I will definitely be back. If you decide to visit Portland (which in my opinion is the most beautiful area of Jamaica) come to Drapers San. You will not regret it!”

Perfect Location!

"Perfect central location to explore Portland and very easy to get around using route taxi as it's right on the main road. The hosts are super sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was the perfect place to stay I felt super safe there alone during COVID without many other guests around. All-day every day I was back and forth to town, the beaches, The Jerk Center in Boston, Lagoon even Long Bay. You can visit so many places cheaply in a day from here as the location is so perfect. I went to 2 different beaches, the Jerk Center and Town every day. Boston and Winnifred are can't miss for local culture while Frenchman's beauty is unmatched. I felt so at home here in Portland I will be back before the year is up. Thanks for a great stay!!

My beloved Jamaica

My name is Maria Carla Gullotta, I am originally Italian, and I live in Jamaica since 30 years.

I came here with my backpack as tourist, thanks to my great passion for reggae music and  I fell in love  with Jamaica and its way of life which is the choice to face it in a light way and with positive vibes.

My love was so big that that after a few years and two books later (Journey to black music. From Jamaica, the Reggae and Jamaica Travel Guide in Italian) I decided to move to Jamaica and I never regretted my choice.

I had the honor to become the Italian Honorary Consul in Jamaica for 16 years while now I remain as Italian Consular Correspondent.

I am also involved in Human Rights and I started Stand Up For Jamaica, one of the biggest NGO in Jamaica, where I am the Executive Director. The NGO is especially committed and focused in the defense of the most fragile persons against discrimination.

We advocate for them  and work on the grounds  with , women, children, LGBT community , inmates, mentally ill seeking justice and equal rights.

I believe that tourists can learns about Jamaicans and their reality giving them the opportunity to work , that is why I use only local and trusted guides for my guests and I suggest visiting undiscovered places far from traditional routes and participation to community life.

Small local places show the original  taste of Jamaica and the joyful spirit of its people.

Drapers San Guest House is involved in partecipating in my commitment to HR and part of the its revenues goes to sustain SUFJ’s projects.

I am glad to share many stories with my guests to learn more than  beautiful beaches and reggae music by the way Marley message about sufferers is still alive.

We love to take care of our tourists way beyond renting a room so we are happy to give all the information about what to do and where to go and how to discover the Jamaican culture offering them our assistance and making sure they can safely move around.

Itineraries to discover Portland, tours in the area or to Kingston, Ocho Rios, Blue Mountains, falls and rivers, the Portland natural park, a coffee plantation, dancehall in the weekends, so many ways to visit  the real Jamaica.

In Drapers San you'll find a family style accomodation, good and local food, patwa spoken and positive vibration.

Hope to see you soon in Jamaica!

Love

Carla
